Mrs. Ione King went to her Heavenly Father on March 25th at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Howard King, her parents Edgar and Presh Killian, sisters Nettie Barriger, Audrey Martin, brothers Ed Killian and Gene Killian. Mama King is survived by her sons, Wayne King (Jenny) and Dan King; granddaughters, Kelli Lorino (Anthony) and Lori Martin (Evan); grandsons, Allen King (Susanne) and Chris King (Renee); great-grandchildren, Chase and Zach Lorino, Luke and Elle Martin, Brendan, Halle and Liam King, Mackenzie and Gabrielle King; and special nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved to sew, do crafts, play bingo, play scrabble and watch Wheel of Fortune. She was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and a former member of Walker Memorial Methodist Church. She lived in Birmingham until 1965 when she and her husband moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida. Mama King was a shining light at St. Martins In The Pines. Her wonderful attitude and warm smile touched everyone who came in contact with her. She was thrilled to be able to represent St. Martins in the Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant in 2010. She will be sorely missed by all. The family wishes to extend its thanks to Tracy and Janetta and the staff at the Darden House at St. Martins for their tender and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29th at 3:30 to celebrate her life at Currie-Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on John Hawkins Pkwy in Hoover, Al. Katie Smith will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite charity.
