Herol Stone

Mr. Heron H. Stone, of Alabaster, formerly of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the age of 89. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served duing WWII. He retired after 30 years service as an electrical engineer with Southern Company. He was a member and former elder of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by a son, John Herol Stone; a brother, Gilbert Stone; and two sisters, Marcelle Peeler and Weynona Poore. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn; one daughter, Carolyn Key (Michael); one son, David Michael; two grandchildren, Phillip Key (Rachel) and Leslie Key; four great grandchildren, Kathryn and Patrick Key, and Lilly and Dravyn Godwin; a brother, Jimmy Stone (Cheryl); two sisters, Marie Weeks (Bill) and Mary Griffin (Raymond); and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4 to 6 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11 AM at Sulligent City Cemetery, Sulligent, Alabama with Rev. Donny Acton officiating. In lieu of of flowers, the family requests donations to New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
