Henry Loh (Hank) Whitehead, Jr., beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and joy-sharing friend to many, left this world for his heavenly home Jan. 18, 2021, a month before what would have been his 97th birthday.
Hank was predeceased by the love of his life, Regina Crawford Whitehead, his wife of over 60 years.
Survivors include daughters Ann Langley (Jim) of Hoover AL, and Beth Karr (Jerry) of Rolla MO, sons Bob Whitehead (Melody) of Rembert SC, and Jim Whitehead (Linda) of Knoxville TN, 6 grandchildren, (one granddaughter predeceased him), and 3 great-grandchildren.
Hank was a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII, received engineering degrees from GA Tech, and enjoyed a successful 40 year career with Westinghouse Electric Co. He was a devoted Christian with a special devotion always to children and youth. He was a perpetual “tease,” and an avid card player.
The family would like to thank the caring residents and extraordinary staff at Galleria Woods for providing friendship, compassion and dignity throughout Hank’s final years.
Hank will be cremated and interred privately. A celebration of his wonderful life is anticipated at First Christian Church Father’s Day weekend when traveling and gathering will hopefully be safe once again.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Hank’s name to First Christian Church, 4954 Valleydale Road Birmingham AL 35242 or to Hillwood Presbyterian Church, 6220 Hickory Valley Rd. Nashville, TN 37205.
