Mr. Henry George Vincent, of Vestavia, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the age of 84. He flew off aircraft carriers as a navigator on Grumman Avenger bombers during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Vincent worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for NASA. He was instrumental in the launches of many unmanned probes, including Voyager I and Voyager II. His team at JPL also played a crucial role in conducting the safe return of Apollo 13. For Southern Company Services, he designed the control room for several power plants, and participated in many other projects for them. Mr. Vincent was a long time member at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Stuart Vincent. He is survived by his son, Craig Henry Vincent and his wife Diane; his grandson, Logan Craig Henry Vincent; and his granddaughter, Dara Vincent. The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral will follow at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel, Dr. Gary Furr officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
