Helen Peterson

Ms. Helen M. Peterson, of Helena, AL, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the age of 82. Helen was born in New York and worked as a special needs teacher for the New York Board of Education for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by 2 sons, Alan and Dennis Peterson.
She is survived by two sons; Harry Peterson (Kathy) and Keith Peterson (Marie), five daughters; Mary Gallagher (Richie), Eileen Chelewski (Joel), Pat Nelson (Paul), Cathy Garrett, and Donna Peterson, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, brother, Victor Ryder, and three sisters; Alice Cirillo, Eleanor Knapp and Lillian Garcia.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 1, 2015, from 12-1 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1 PM in the chapel. Interment will be Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
