Harriet Jackson

Jackson, Harriet Anderson of Birmingham, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at age 83. She grew up in Birmingham and, after getting married at age 16, Moved to Long Beach, California where her husband, Jimmy “JJ,” served in the U. S. Navy four years. They remained on the West Coast 11 years before returning to Alabama and settling in Forestdale, where they raised four boys. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with the former Montmartre chapter of the Birmingham Fraternal Council and at Dr. Dance.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jimmy “JJ” Jackson, mother  Leona Anderson and father John Anderson. She is survived by her sons Steve, Gary, David (Laurie), and Daryl (Nancy) Jackson; and brother Harrison Rayburn “Andy” Anderson (Judy).

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, beginning at 12:00 P.M. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway (Hwy 150), Hoover. Funeral at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
