Harold Myers

Harold Gwinn Myers, age 78 of Bessemer, Alabama passed away Friday July 2, 2021.

Born April 4, 1943; Harold spent his childhood in Section, AL. He did farm work and learned to run heavy equipment. He moved to Bessemer, AL in 1966 and worked for Burgess Mining and Drummond Coal. He retired from mining in 1995 and continued to work in the construction field until 2013. Harold had married Shirley Sparks in 1966 and started a family. They had three children, Darin, Tim, and Michelle. He was a faithful member of Jonesboro Church of God which later became Rock Mountain Lake Church of God. He enjoyed church work, Alabama football, politics, and he never met a stranger. He was known by many as ‘Gabby”.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Ira and Helen Cobbler Myers, Wife; Shirley Sparks Myers in 2009 and his daughter, Jessica Michelle Myers Murdoch (John) who passed December 2018.

He is survived by his brothers; Waymon Myers (Wanda), Jimmy Myers (Jo). Sisters; Betty Myers Clemons (Harry), Annette Myers Hancock (Danny), Joyce Myers Farr (Larry). Sons; Timothy Myers (Gaynell), Darin Myers (Lana). Grandchildren; Jared Myers, Lora Myers Christian (Jeremy), Olivia Myers James (Ethan), Nicholas Nation (April), Madeline Nation, Trigg Murdoch, Michael Watkins (Paige), Misty Watkins Hudson (Wesley) Clair Murdock (Jake), Lauren Vines and Christian Vines.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 5, 2021, at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm followed by a chapel service at 1:00pm with Greg Traweek officiating.
