Gussie Ray

age 85, of Town Village in Vestavia, formerly of Hoover, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Ray. Mrs. Ray was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who leaves behind 6 children, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, 5 brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her surviving children are Jimmy Ray (Judy) of Hoover, Jerry Ray (Nancy) of Helena, Terry Ray (Lynn) of Pelham, Nan Meadows of Cumming, GA, Jan Robinson (Larry) of Woodstock, GA, and Ann Funderburk (Tim) of Alexander City. Surviving grandchildren include Trey (Keely) Meadows, Jim, Mike, Kim and Jessyca Ray, Mandy and Chrissy Robinson, and Britt and Nick Funderburk. Great grandchildren, Alli and Macy Meadows. Surviving sisters include Irene Gordy, Juanita Youngblood, Lessie Holt and Vera Wooten. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 6, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Harris and Rev. Pat Buckner officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
