He was predeceased in this life by his father, his mother and his older brother, Orman Ezra Jackson, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Laura Jo (Sanders) Jackson, two sons, Bryan Grover Jackson and wife, Charlotte (Baird) Jackson and Jeffrey Daniel Jackson and wife, Melissa (Gary) Jackson; three grandsons, Christopher, James, and Tyler; one granddaughter, Laura Faith; and three brothers, Ronald E. Grover grew up in Evergreen, Alabama, graduating in 1967 from Evergreen High School. He subsequently graduated from Alabama Christian College, where he played basketball, and David Lipscomb University in 1971.
Grover retired from a 30-year career at Compass Bank, then obtained his realtor’s license and partnered with his wife Jo for several years working with RE/MAX.
Grover was a dedicated Christian and a member of Riverchase Church of Christ, where he served in several positions, including elder for more than 30 years. He used his areas of expertise in banking and computers in his service to God. His passions were his physical family and his church family. He loved children and, especially, babies. He could often be seen walking around the church building with someone’s small child in his arms. He was affectionately known by family and friends as “the baby whisperer.”
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, March 5, with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM. The service will be conducted by Dewayne Spivey, pulpit minister at the Riverchase Church of Christ.
