Grace Christian

Mrs. Grace Black Christian, of Birmingham, born in Montgomery, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the age of 88. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Medical Technology. She worked at UAB, Drs. McCoy and Moughon, Lakeshore Rehab, and Samford University Library. Grace was a longtime, active member and pianist at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Cahaba Heights. She and her husband had a heart for missions and participated in a number of overseas mission trips. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Lavohn "Bill or Doc" Christian. She is survived by two sons, David Christian and Jim Christian; a grandson, Timothy Dalton Huntress; and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 9:30 to 11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with longtime friend, Rev. Charles Merry Christmas officiating along with other ministers. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Birmingham Baptist Association, Women's Missionary Union (WMU), or Southern Baptist International Mission Board (SBC-IMB).
