A celebration of the life of Glennis Logan, age 84, of Birmingham, will be held Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel (the family will receive friends from 10-11:30 followed by the service). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to her son Mike's Memorial Fund: Michael Wood Logan Memorial Fund Fairfax County Special Education. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as the oldest daughter of Alvin and Mattie Hutchins. She married her high school sweetheart Edward Logan and went on to be a very active Army wife raising four boys all over the United States, Europe and Asia spanning 64 wonderful years. In the last 16 years, Mrs. Logan has lived in Birmingham where she was an active member of Dawson Memorial Church, the Armed Forces Officers' Wives' Club and the Garden Club of Inverness. Glennis was an elegant lady, devoted wife, loving mother and sister, and a precious Granny (Granny G or GiGi). She was beautiful inside, so tiny yet, so strong, very spiritual, an inspiration to all she knew. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wood Logan and her brother, Alvin Carl Hutchins. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving husband, Edward O'Neal Logan; sons, Edward Logan of Oregon, Dennis Logan (Cookie) of Birmingham, and David Logan (Diane) of California; sisters, Betty Farrow of Atlanta, Margaret Taylor of Birmingham, and Ruthie Fitzgibbon (John) of North Carolina; brother, Albert Hutchins (Doris) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Brian Martin of Arizona, Ashley Blomeyer (Dustin) of Birmingham, Whitney Logan of Birmingham, and Blakely Logan of Birmingham; great-grandson, Logan Blomeyer and many, many dear friends who enriched her life as she did theirs.
