Mr. Glenn H. Stanley, 71, of Calera, AL passed away on May 22, 2020. Glenn proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and received two Purple Heart Medals for his service in the Vietnam War. After the military, he worked as a Commercial Contractor for 30 years, and during the last 10 years he owned his own business. At the age of 50, he adopted two boys he loved more than anything. He recently became a grandfather to his granddaughter, Taylor Ann Stanley. He made a lasting impression and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. Most importantly, Glenn and Shelia were soulmates. It was love at first sight, nothing could come between them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Stanley and Audrey Bonds Stanley; and brother, James Pate.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shelia Ward Stanley; son, David William Stanley (Jordan) and granddaughter, Taylor Ann Stanley; son, Zachery Taylor Stanley (Elise); brothers, Johnny Wayne Stanley (Brenda) and Jerry Pate; sisters, Dorothy Taylor and Margaret Ashby; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. There will be a private family graveside held at a later date.
