Genevie Mishalanie

Mrs. Genevie H. Mishalanie, of Hoover, AL, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born in Clinton, SC on April 11, 1938 and grew up in Ooltewah, TN. She married Philip Mishalanie in 1960.

Genevie graduated from Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in Chattanooga, TN, in 1960. She worked at Moccasin Bend Psychiatric Hospital and Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, and T.E. Schumpert Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, LA. She also worked in private practice clinics in Chattanooga, and in nursing homes and obstetrics at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham, AL.  She always retained a desire to help others in any way she could.

She and her husband owned and operated the Dairy-Go-Round Ice Cream Parlor in Alabaster, AL. Genevie was a devoted church member at Metropolitan Church of God. She was a woman of faith and devoted to serving the Lord throughout her lifetime.

Even though Genevie loved nursing, her real love was raising her children. She loved to spend time with her family and made sure their lives were filled with adventure and great memories. Her grandchildren were spoiled by her love and kindness and she made sure they knew it.  She also loved to travel and was at home in the mountains or at the beach. She was a strong and independent woman, unafraid to try new things, and always put others first.

Genevie is survived by her children, Kenneth (Jennifer), Janet Comer (Joseph), Stephen (Lisa), and Jason (Olivia); eight grandchildren, Aaron Comer, (Diana), Andrew Comer, Jacob, Joshua, Hanna, Christopher Ryan, Caitline Buford, and Cory Durrett; one great grandson, David; her sister, Jeanette, and many other relatives and friends. Nothing on earth was more important to her than her family.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm on Tuesday, December 6, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Memorial Gardens in Hoover with a service at 2 pm.
