Gayle Sizemore

November 20, 1945 — June 27, 2022

Sandra “Gayle” Sizemore, 76, was peacefully ushered into Heaven on June 27, 2022 while surrounded by her family as they softly sang some of her favorite hymns.

Gayle was born on November 20, 1945 in Fayette, AL to Mary Ellard Roberts Wilson and Jesse William Wilson. She was raised in Lipscomb, AL and graduated from Jones Valley High Schoolin 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Boyd Sizemore, Jr (Buddy) at the young age of 17. She soon became housewife extraordinaire and mother to three wonderful children: Donald Boyd Sizemore, III (Michelle), Lisa Diane Brister (Scott) and Sharon Kay Daniel (David). Gayle and Buddy both agreed that she would stay home to raise the children. She was a loving mother who stood her ground, but when the grandchildren arrived, she spoiled them endlessly and let them get away with anything. She had 11 grandchildren and 10 great grands(and counting).

Gayle was preceded by her parents and her sister, Betty Garland, and was a loving Aunt and second mother to her sister’s 4 children: Mike Garland (Denise), Terri Everette (Smitty), Karen Wambles, and Scott Garland (Amy).

Aside from being President and CEO of the homestead, she was a certified aesthetician and nail tech and worked 40+ years in the beauty industry. She knew what to wear and what not to wear, and she set the standard when it came to her style. She was loved and adored by her clients, and she gave the best facials known to man. She was a great friend to have and a gifted listener.
Gayle was a faithful, loyal member of Liberty Church in Hoover, Al for almost 50 years and loved to talk about Jesus with her clients and anyone that was interested. She had a smile that would welcome a stranger like family, but when her children (and husband) acted up in church, she could give them “the look” like none other.

At the age of 75, Gayle started down a long road of various health issues and was eventually diagnosed with ALS. Her last few months of life was brutal to her body, but with the loving support of her husband and children, she went through it with grace and dignity. Her favorite thing to do during this time was to worship with her family and they made that happen every chance they got. There was an atmosphere of peace that was felt by the many people that visited. We know that she is dancing and singing in heaven and are looking forward to the day we can worship together again.

Gayle is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Boyd Sizemore (Buddy), and her three children. Oh, what a legacy she leaves.
