Garrett is a native of Watson, Louisiana. He moved to Alabama in 2001 and lived in Mobile for 5 years before moving to Hoover in 2006. Garrett is a 2008 graduate of Hoover High School and he attended the University of Alabama Birmingham from 2008-2010.
Garrett was a young entrepreneur, opening his first business, Five Star Flooring, when he was 19 years old. He was a hardworking man who would give you his shirt off of his back to anyone in need. He was loyal, caring and had a heart of gold. Garrett was often lovingly referred to as "Big G". His heart was as big as his exterior and he was the life of the party. He had a contagious laugh, yet he was the one anyone could call on for help. We are all better for having known him. He touched so many lives in so many ways with his selfless love. He is loved and will be missed by many. Fly high Garrett, until we meet again. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Travis Alton Bankston, Sr.; grandmother, Katherine Ann Bankston, both of Holden, Louisiana, and his grandfather, John Robert Armstrong of Watson, Louisiana.
Garrett is survived by his girlfriend and companion, Kelsey Dennis of Hoover; his furbaby son, Boudreaux Armstrong; his parents, Gary and Rene' Armstrong, of Hoover; a sister, Gabby Rene' Armstrong Strickland and brother-in-law, Dakota Strickland, of Alabaster; his grandmother, Rita Armstrong, of Watson, LA; and a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins in Louisiana, Alabama and Kentucky.
