Freida Gammill

Freida Sue Walls Gammill, 72, born March 7, 1946, departed from this world on March 19, 2018. The daughter of Mattie and Donald Walls, Freida was a 1964 graduate of Hueytown High School and a 1968 graduate of Auburn University, where she was an Auburn Beauty. She met the love of her life while a student at Auburn. Freida and John Gammill married on February 15, 1969 and were married 35 years upon his death in 2004. The Gammills owned Get Away Travel for 20 years and enjoyed seeing the world together. Freida will forever be remembered as a gracious and kind soul, one who never left home without her lipstick on, and who loved being surrounded by her family and friends.

Freida was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, the Junior League in Montgomery, AL, the Ballet Women's Committee, and she served on the Hoover Belle Committee for more than a decade.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Gammill. Freida is survived by her daughters, Heather Adams (Jeff) and Ashley Moran (Dan); sister, Sheila Roman (Michael Fitzsimons); brother, Gary Hatman (Faye); grandchildren, Anna Grace Adams, Mary Hunter Adams, Caroline Adams, Barrett Weaver Moran, Grayson Weaver Moran, Abigail Moran, and John Michael Moran; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2, Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00, Dr. Gary Furr officiating. Memorials may be made to Vestavia Hills Baptist Church or to CurePSP.
