age 57, a member of the Shades Mountain Baptist Church, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. The funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, at 3 PM at Currie Jefferson Memorial Chapel, South, Highway 150, Hoover, Alabama with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens South. Dr. Charles T. Carter will direct the services. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM. on Friday, June 19, 2009. Fred was the adored and loved son of Lois O. Russell and the late John F. Russell of Hoover and wonderful father of Rachel Elizabeth Russell and faithful brother of Dr. Gary N. Russell and wife, Gay of Jasper, Alabama. He was the precious uncle of Ryan Nelson Russell, Hoover and John Taylor Russell, Jasper, Alabama. Fred was born January 17, 1952 to Lois O. Russell and John Fletcher Russell in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Walker College, Jasper, Alabama. Fred proudly served his country in the National Guard for ten years. Fred owned and operated Sounds Great Stereo in Hoover, Alabama since 1974. Fred had a servant's heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed. He was an inspiration to his loving daughter, family and friends, and will be missed by many. When Fred's angels came to escort him into the presence of the Lord, he had many friends to whom he had been a blessing waiting for him, including his loving father, John. Our Lord says He has gone to prepare a mansion for us. Fred moved into his mansion on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Pallbearers will be Dr. Gary N. Russell, Ryan Russell, Taylor Russell, Jim Branyon, Rick Kling, and Emmett Wingfield. The family requests memorial contributions to be sent to Big Oak Ranch in Glencoe, Alabama or Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
