Fred Popwell

Mr. Fred C. Popwell, 89, of Indian Springs Village, AL passed away on October 1, 2021. He was born in Clanton, AL on January 7, 1932 . He was a 1950 graduate of Chilton County High School. Mr. Popwell was employed at ACIPCO, where he retired after 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hoover. Fred loved to garden, and he grew delicious vegetables. He loved to cook for his church friends, helped them by taking them to church, and was the Lord’s servant.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Nell Hayes Popwell; parents, Fonza Iven and Mary Cagle Popwell; brothers, Robert, Baxter, and Joe Popwell; and sisters, Gladys Glenn, Merita Levine, and Frances Eiland.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Popwell and Ronald Popwell (Susan); grandchildren, Chris Popwell (Haley) and Malorie Popwell Yerbey (Johnny); great-grandchild, Winston Drake Popwell; brothers, Paul Popwell and Dalton Popwell (Dana); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Hoover. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm and interment will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
