Fred Blackwell

Fred Allen Blackwell, of Bessemer, passed away, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the age of 89. He was the best and most loving father anyone could ever want. He loved God, his family, and Alabama Football.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen Blackwell. He is survived by his son, Bruce Allen Blackwell (Barbara); his daughter, Karen Blackwell Moody; 5 grandchildren, Jesse Blackwell, Michelle Blackwell, Brett Moody, Ashley Moody, and Kevin Moody; 2 great grandchildren, Jaiden Moody and Markus Chavez, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 10-11, Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral will follow at 11:00 in the chapel, Pastor Joel Frederick officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Life Baptist Church Building Fund.
