Frank Eugene Marsh, age 98, passed away on May 17, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Selma Marsh; his first wife of 42 years, Martha; his second wife of 19 years, Dr. Virginia; her granddaughter, Jennifer H. James; and his brothers and sisters.
Frank is survived by his friend, Peggy Benefield; and Virginia's children, Fred (Dr. Phyllis) Horns, Lurie Pfeffer, Susan Foster, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister-in-law, Eileen Marsh of Rutland, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
Frank graduated from Rutland High School in Rutland, MA, Clark College, University of New Hampshire, and Boston University where he received his doctorate in 1959. He taught in Manchester, VT, Hanover, NH, and Boston, MA from 1942 to 1984. He served with distinction as professor and dean in the College of Education at Northeastern University from 1956 to 1984. He retired as professor and dean emeritus.
Frank was actively involved in Kappa Delta Pi, an education honorary, from 1949 to 2001. He served as national president from 1972 to 1974 and chaired the Foundation Board for 14 years.
He was a kind, gentle, intelligent man who tried to do something positive for someone else every day. His faith inspired and sustained him.
His memorial service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 2 o'clock at Riverchase United Methodist Church with visitation at 1 o'clock. Memorials can be made to the church or to the Marsh-Harding Scholarship, Naquag Elementary School, 285 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
