of Hoover, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marion Cantavespre Cashia; his parents, Tony and Josephine Cashia; and three sisters, Fina Cashia, Jennie Lorino and Josie Timbrello. Mr. Cashia was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ensley, and had been a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church for the past 3 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked for a number of years as an insurance agent before his retirement. Mr. Cashia was an avid collector of 40's big band music and the joy of his life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Anthony Cashia, of Hoover and Joseph Cashia, of Brentwood, TN; one daughter, Jo Ann and husband Tommy J. Zito, of Hoover; seven grandchildren, Lisa and Scott Park, Vicki and Rusty Fowler, T. J. and Wendy Zito, Bryant, Matthew, Gina and Vincent Cashia; two great grandsons, Mason Fowler and Joshua Park;one sister, Lena Patrone, of Staten Island, NY; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive on Thursday, June 2, 2005, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father John Fallon officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
