Floyd Powell

POWELL, FLOYD LEE, went home on Thanksgiving Day after a courageous battle with cancer. Lee was a product of the Birmingham School System (Phillips High School), a graduate of the University of Alabama, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After a lengthy career in banking, Lee went to work for the Vestavia Hills City Schools, with whom he was employed at his death. Lee was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his darling wife, Jean; six children; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister; and many friends, especially at the Vestavia Hills School System. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will be Monday, December 1, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Services of North Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
