Floyd Jones, Jr

Frank was born Floyd Franklin Jones, Jr. in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on September 7, 1920, to Floyd Franklin Jones, Sr. and Vera (nee Thompson) Jones. He married Norma (nee Snider) on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941 and shipped out one year later to serve in World War II as a Navy SeaBee, stationed in the Philippines.
After his return from war, he and Norma opened Valley Jewelers in Homewood which they owned for 27 years. He was active in the Exchange Club and Homewood Merchants Association. Norma passed away in 1980.
After his retirement Frank moved to Maylene, where he was an active member in the Alabama Woodworkers Guild. His friends and family were blessed to have him for 95 years and will miss him.
He is survived by his daughters: Pam Hiam (Randy) of Murphy, TX and Elizabeth Missimer (Wade) of Orlando, FL, grandchildren: Jason Hiam, Kevin Hiam and Shelley Hiam, great-granddaughter: Samantha Hiam, brother: Jim Jones of Missouri, sister: Claudia Stephens of Missouri, sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Jones and Geneva Jones, nieces: Sue LaRussa, Jan Bodiford and Jill McAnnally and nephews: Dr. Dan Jones and Dr. Jim Jones.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at 11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alabama Woodworkers Guild, Inc., P. O. Box 26665, Birmingham, AL 35260.
