Fletcher Cook, Jr

Mr. Fletcher Monroe “Fletch” Cook, Jr., of Hoover, AL, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the age of 85. He graduated from Ensley High School and Auburn University in Aeronautical Engineering. After he graduated from flight school, he was sent to Korea in the first jet fighter group, the F86. Later he spent two tours of duty in Vietnam, flying RF-4C's plus several T.D.Y.'s. He was a flight instructor for the Air National Guard in Birmingham. After retiring from the USAF, he obtained a Masters Degree and was the chief pilot for Baggett Transportation Company and later B. E. & K. Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Cook, two sons, Randy Cook (Debbie) and Wayne Cook (Caroline), six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday, January 9, 2015, at 1:15 PM at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, with Rev. Robbie Caldwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Alzheimer's Association of Central Alabama, www.alzca.org.
