Evelyn Juanita Mitchell, 75, of Birmingham, AL passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Juanita was born on March 14, 1947 in Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Mitchell III, and her parents, Evelyn Duke Causey and Vester Lane Causey.
Juanita is survived by her daughter Robin Mitchell Howell (Del) of Gulf Shores, AL. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Alison Steineker (Will) of Vestavia Hills, Ashley Emmons (Justin) of Gulf Shores, Melissa Paquette (Rhyan) of Vestavia Hills, and Patrick Howell (Erin) of Mountain Brook, Brady Howell and Mason Howell, both of Gulf Shores, AL. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Causey (Donna) of The Villages, FL and sister Linda Hand (Hal) of Wilsonville, AL. She also has nieces and nephews whom she adored, as well as 10 great grandchildren.
Juanita was raised in Central Park and graduated from Ensley High School in 1965. She spent most of her career in the mortgage loan industry as well as having a real estate license. People enjoyed working with her and many wrote letters telling her how thankful they were for her and how it meant so much to them. She spent the latter part of her career working at Safehouse of Shelby County before she retired. She helped countless women and children through Safehouse. Juanita also loved animals, loved to dance, had a wonderful sense of humor and especially loved her grandchildren.
A memorial service for Juanita will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 4-5pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to: Safehouse of Shelby County (205) 378-2923, Monday through Friday 9 A.M to 4 P.M.
