Evelyn Gordon

Evelyn Hays Gordon, of Vestavia Hills, passed away January 20, 2011, at the age of 64. Evelyn was a devoted member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, where she volunteered time to the hospitality network and other ministries. She treasured time with family, and most of all, with her two granddaughters who lovingly called her "Evie." She proudly worked as a librarian at Vestavia Hills High School 12 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Nathan Hays; and her brother, Nathan Hays. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Curtis Gordon, Jr.; two sons, David Gordon (Rachel) and Jonathan Gordon; two grandchildren, Emma and Sarah Gordon; brother, David Hays (Jeanette); and two sisters, Frances Dillender (Sam) and Mary Lipscomb (Bobby). A Memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, January 24, 2011, at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. A visitation will follow the service at the church. The family thanks friends and family for their loving support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (100 Chase Park South Suite 220 Birmingham, AL 35244) or to the Vestavia Library in the Forest (1221 Montgomery Hwy Vestavia, AL 35216).
