Evelyn Anderson

Mrs. Evelyn Chapman Anderson, of Homewood, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at age 81. Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. She worked as a teacher and later a substitute teacher for the Homewood school system, and eventually retired from EBSCO Media. She was a longtime member of Highlands United Methodist Church, where she was also an active volunteer. She also volunteered for the Angel Squad at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center after her own cancer treatment, and for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Helen Chapman, and by her husband, John C. Anderson. She is survived by her children, Helen Anderson Love (Tim), Marietta, GA, and Henry Chapman Anderson (Susan), Vestavia Hills, AL; her grandchildren, Allison and William Love, and Cullen and Cecily Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Parlor, Highway 150, Hoover, AL. Graveside funeral service and interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South will follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
