Mrs. Etta Payton Redmond, of Alabaster, passed away on December 25, 2015 at the age of 84. Born and raised in Chilton County, she lived in Midfield for a number of years before moving to Alabaster. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Midfield before becoming a member of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster. Etta's hobbies included travel and nature, but her love was identifying birds by sight and sound. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a son, Andy Redmond.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John William "Bill" Redmond; a son, Johnny W. Redmond (Jayne); a daughter, Jill Redmond Crosby (Larry); 3 grandchildren, Sarah Redmond, Thomas and Erin Crosby; a brother, Julius Payton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 12 to 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Rev. Mike Byars officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Alabaster.
