Emmett Ferretti

age 81 passed away peacefully on November 28. Emmett was born in Atri, Italy on February 2, 1925. He was brought to the USA as a child, growing up in Erie, PA, attending Cathedral Preparatory School and Gannon University. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He received his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. During his career as a chemical engineer, he was employed by Du Pont, Monsanto, Diamond Shamrock, Rust Engineering, and retired from Dravo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine Kienle Ferretti; his brother William A. Ferretti (Millie) of Erie; and pre-deceased by his brother Robert J. Ferretti (Arlene) of Erie. He is also survived by his six children: Ann Marie Ferretti, Atlanta, GA; John Mark Ferretti, Cary, NC; Andrew Ferretti (Joanna); Clare F. Moss (Jeffrey); Joan F. Wright (Carl); and Monica F. Ulzheimer (John), Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren Christopher Hicks (Alisha), Nicholas Hicks, Jonathan Hicks, Daniel Ferretti, Maria Ferretti, Andrew Paul Ferretti, Donna Ferretti, Sarah Ferretti, Ashley Wright and Amber Wright as well as many nieces and nephews. Emmett was an active member of Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as an usher and lector, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Boy Scout leader. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29 starting at 5:00 PM with a wake service at 7:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at 2061 Patton Chapel Rd, Birmingham, AL 35216. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, November 30 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Peter the Apostle Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
