It is with great sadness, we note the passing of Elizabeth T. Burleson after a long but valiant struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mrs. Burleson will be fondly remembered as “Mrs. B” to the many hundreds of children who passed through her classroom. After graduating from the University of Alabama, Elizabeth taught school in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia, retiring after 39 years from Pinson Elementary in Birmingham.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rev. CM & Elizabeth Tyndal, husband Walter C. Burleson, she leaves behind children Mark (Cindy) Burleson and Robin (Martin) Soprano and grandchildren Captain Chris (Kristy) Burleson, Randi (David) Jantz, Anthony, Ryan and Liz Soprano and one great-grandchild, Arya Burleson.
Elizabeth was known for her wisdom, her great stories, sense of humor and her love of family. She will be greatly missed. The family is eternally grateful for the loving care provided by both the staff of Magnolia Trace ACTS Retirement Community in Huntsville, AL and Amedisys Hospice Care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 1-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. The service will follow in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
