Mr. Edward Earl Capps, II,(formerly Teddy Earl Capps), of Hoover, passed away on December 21, 2014. He would have turned 82 in January. The oldest child of Edward and Melder Capps (both deceased) of Lipscomb, Earl was a graduate of Jones Valley High School, a Building Construction graduate of Auburn University, and a Navy veteran of the Korean and Cold Wars. Over his many years he was also an Eagle Scout, a pilot, amateur diver, photographer, volunteer fireman and served a long career as a Construction Project Manager of national and international public works and National Defense projects.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Marie Seaton Capps. He is survived by his brother Carl Clifton Capps (Diann) of Birmingham; his two daughters, Leigh Elizabeth Capps Stalcup of Charlotte, NC and Kristan Ferrell Capps White (Tim) of Montgomery, AL; eight grandchildren: Julia White (14), Devin Stalcup (13), Kate White (11), Haven Stalcup (10), Mason Stalcup (8), Jakob White (7), Logan Stalcup (7) and Peyton Stalcup (5); and nephews Chris Capps and Craig Capps and niece Stacey Capps Tucker, all of the greater Birmingham area.
Visitation will be Wednesday 12/24/14, 10-11:30am at the Currie Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover. Graveside service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL at 12:30.
Dad's obituary instructions to us were "no glory, no criticizing." ;) He was loved and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, Earl requested that any memorials be made to the Alabama National Cemetery Service Committee through www.scalnc.org.
