of McCalla, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2005, at the age of 69. Edward was born and grew up in Pleasant Grove, AL. He attended Pleasant Grove Elementary School and Hueytown and Fairfield High Schools. He joined the U.S. Marines in September, 1953 and served his country until September, 1956, two and a half years of which was spent overseas. Mr. Duke was a Birmingham Policeman from 1959 to 1968. He was also a very good machinist, was general foreman at Hayes International, and started his own business with his wife Joan Duke. He is survived by his two sons, David Duke (Jan) of Pleasant Grove and their children, Anthony and Jennifer, and Michael Duke of Helena and his daughter, Courtney; a brother, Richard Duke (Laverne) of Concord; and a sister, Betty Lightsey of Pleasant Grove. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2005. from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover, with the funeral service following at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jim Profetto officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in Mulberry Cemetery in Blountsville.
