COX, EDNA RUTH, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2007. She was born August 9, 1914 in Newnan, GA, the third child of James Robert Cox and Jewell Ophelia Jackson Cox. Edna was reared in LaGrange, GA, but lived most of her life in Birmingham. She retired in 1979 from her secretary/bookkeeping position with Jack Campbell Opticians. Edna was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Emma Cox Fetters of Birmingham; and brothers, Robert Jackson Cox of New York City and James Edwin Cox of Birmingham. She is survived by her brother, William Lee Cox (Lillian) of Columbus, GA; a niece, Carolyn Fetters Howton of Montgomery; 3 nephews, James Walter Cox (Toni) of Helena, Robert Earl Cox (Lynn) of Columbus, GA, and Donald Mark Cox (Karen) of New York City; several great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 9-10 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover. A service will follow at 10 in the funeral home chapel, Dr. C. Otis Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.
