Edna Campbell

September 7, 1925 — March 21, 2014

Edna Lorena Huff Campbell, 87, passed away on March 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband James Warren Campbell, Sr. and her son James Warren Campbell, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Joyce Alexander; grandchildren, Jan Liles, Steven Campbell and Shelia Alexander; great-grandchildren, Jay Liles, Jonathan Liles, Allie Campbell, Rebecca Campbell and David Campbell; sisters, Elizabeth Jordan, Kathleen Elam and Wanda Harp; and nieces, Debbie O’Dazier, Lisa Guarino, Carrie Fritz and Angela Mustoe. Many other family and friends will miss her very much.

Born September 7, 1925, Edna Campbell was one of nine children who grew up in a close-knit family in Corinth, Mississippi. She married Private James Campbell on September 28, 1942. They shared 53 years of adventures together.

Edna had a great gift for taking care of children of all ages, and she especially loved babies. The Campbell's joined Mountain Brook Baptist Church in 1951 and Edna worked in the children's department for the next 56 years. When she retired in 2007, Miss Edna had loved three generations of babies there.

Edna loved her family. Over a lifetime she and James offered their love and even their home to many more children than their own. No child was unloved in Edna Campbell's home. Caring for others was her gift, her job and her ministry. In the words of Proverbs 31, "Her children stand up and bless her. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise."

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2014, 1:30-2:30 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Funeral service follows at 2:30, Pastor Doug Dortch officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
