Edgar “Eddy” Earl Davis, Jr., of Helena passed away August 6, 2018 at the age of 70 years old.
Eddy grew up in Birmingham, AL and joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17. He was extremely proud of his service that included two tours in Vietnam as a Marine Infantryman and Forward Observer. Eddy retired from Norfolk Southern as a Railroad Engineer after 39 years. He was a loving husband, son, brother, dad, granddad and a great-granddad to be. Everyone that met him loved him. He will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Wilks Davis; sons, Edgar Earl Davis, III (Deanne Seals Davis), Mark Shane Dooley (Kelsey Baker), James Wesley Brakefield; daughters, Beverly Davis Cobb (James Cobb), Kimberly Davis Coleman (William Coleman), and Linzy Brakefield Foster (Adam Foster). Grandchildren, Wade Brock, Edgar Earl Davis, IV (Katalin Bova Davis), Landen Brock, Tyler Seals, Shania Norwood, Brianna Brakefield, Shane Seals, Sophie Davis, Curtlyn Coleman, Brennen Coleman, Anamaia Goswami, Chloe Brakefield, Townes Foster and one great-grandaughter on the way.
Eddy is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Earl Davis, Sr. and Beverly Hennessee Davis; brother, Howard Laray Davis; and sister, Phyllis Ann Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the charity of your choice in Eddy’s name.
Inurnment will take place with Military Honors on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 2:45 in the Alabama National Cemetery.
