Dr. Lou Ann Hedden, DC, Da BCN passed away on the 6th of July, 2012. Dr. Hedden was board certified to practice in Maryland, Virginia, Alaska, Alabama and Washington State. She attended Ohio State University and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, upon graduation she moved to Soldotna, Alaska and founded Hedden Chiropractic. Dr. Hedden practiced for over 15 years until she chose to take early retirement. While in Alaska, she was co-founder of the Soldotna Battered Women's Shelter. She was appointed by the Alaska State legislature to the Alaska Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Hedden also served as secretary of the Alaska State Chiropractic Society. She was appointed to the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as well. While practicing in Alaska, Dr. Hedden took a neurological Degree from Logan School of Chiropractic. She was selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1983. Dr. Hedden moved to Hoover, AL, in 2008-2009. She immediately set out to revitalize the chiropractic clinic her brother Dr. Tim Hedden founded and ran until his passing in 2008. Dr. Hedden never stopped learning and attended chiropractic seminars all over the country in order to provide the best possible care for her patients. When Dr. Hedden was not at the clinic, she spent her free time studying chiropractic and neurology, taking care of her extended family and refinishing antique furniture. She is preceded in death by her father, Larry D. Hedden, and brother, Dr. Tim Hedden. She is survived by her mother, Ada L. Hedden, sister, Sandy (Norbert) Tasler, brother, Steve Hedden, daughter, Hannah Smith, nieces and nephews; Larry, Anna, and Frank, cousins; Randy (Deb) Plank, Marc (Beth) Plank, Jackie Plank, and Matt (Tobi) Plank, as well as the Parks family, Aubrey, Stephen, Trevor, Anthony, Malcolm, and Gillian. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 10-11:30 AM at Liberty Church with a memorial service at 11:30 AM with Pastor Bruce Terry officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Wellspring for Women at the Liberty Church, 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, AL 35216.
