A 6th generation Texan, Ebb was born in Houston on February 25, 1936, and raised in the small town of Madisonville. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts at the age of 17 and went on to attend Rice University in Houston and Loyola University in New Orleans. After a brief stint in the US Army Reserve, Ebb graduated with a DDS from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. He practiced dentistry in Texas for many years before becoming a professor of operative dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. During his teaching years, he traveled extensively in Europe, North America & Asia lecturing on new techniques in dental materials. Ebb was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America. One of his proudest accomplishments was shepherding his two sons to the rank of Eagle Scout. Ebb had a great passion for life and enjoyed many hobbies and interests over the years. He earned his private pilot’s license, loved snow skiing, and took up skydiving in his later years; making his last jump at the age of 79 with his grandson, Walter. He was a voracious reader. He enjoyed painting and especially loved painting portraits of his grandchildren and his extended family’s many dogs. He recently took up the hobby of making Catholic rosaries and gave these as treasured gifts to friends and family. Ebb will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
