Dorothy Whitson

went home to be with her Lord on April 14, 2007. She was born May 3, 1940 in Birmingham. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Judson College. She loved her family and had a keen interest in everyone she met. She was a talented artist and pianist and was an avid fan of the University of Alabama football. She is a longtime member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church and previously Central Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Gay Craig McGee and her father Eric Grafton McGee. She is survived by her daughter Gina Whitson Gamble and son-in-law Jon Gamble, her granddaughters Claire, Lucy, and Sally Gamble, and her stepmother Cornelia K. McGee, all of Birmingham; brother Eric G. McGee, Jr. (Sarah) of Birmingham; and sisters Trudy Baxter (Billy) of Kingsport, TN; Melanie Goodson (Lance) and Amy Houston (Greg) of Birmingham, and Anne Canada (Steve) of Mariana, FL; uncle Val McGee of Ozark, and aunt Janet Dickson of Virginia; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 16, 2007, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Steve Canada officiating.
