Dorothy Ponder

83, of Hoover, went home to be with her Lord, Jan. 26, 2012. Jean leaves behind her husband of 64 yrs., Arthur Ponder; son, Harris (Jane) Ponder, daughter, Debbie Ponder (Bill) Parks, grandchildren, Ryan(Clare), Eric (Jessica), Patrick & Kelli Parks, Melissa & Caroline Ponder, great-grand-children Laney, Taylor & Annie Kate Parks; brother, Carl E. Powell & nephew, Eddie Powell. She is preceded by her parents, Grady & Hazel Powell. A graduate of West End High School, "Miss Jean" spent many years as a bookkeeper for various B'ham businesses, most recently for Riverview Animal Clinic. Beloved by her grands & great-grands ,"Mimi" enjoyed their many sports, music & dance events. Visitation at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, Tues. Jan. 31, 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood. Rev. Reid Crotty officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Bluff Park United Methodist Church.
