Dorothy Burleson

Dorothy "Dot" Barnett Burleson, of Hoover, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at age 86. She was born in Macon, MS, and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company. She was a lifelong member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira L. Burleson; two brothers, Wilford and Tommy Barnett; and two sisters, Jeanette Glover and Mary Thorsen.

Dot is survived by her son, Bill Kirby (Connie); two daughters, Donna Langston (Brian) and Kathy Shepherd; six grandchildren, Katie Langston, Clay Langston (Lisa), Krissie Fargason (Johnny), Carolyn Kirby, Amanda Martin (Bryan), and Ashley Shepherd; two great grandchildren, Emma and Luke Langston; and two brothers, James Barnett (Deandra) and Jesse Barnett (Opaldean).

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, from 10 am-11 am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. The service will follow in the Chapel at 11 am with Dr. Buddy Gray officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's of Central Alabama, www.alzca.org.
