Donald Barr

Mr. Donald Barr was born in Cleburne County Alabama and resided in Bessemer for more than 50 years. He was a Navy veteran and was a major appliance technician. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Fairfield Highlands. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda, a brother, Edwin, and a sister, Marjorie Fendley. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Borden Barr, a son, Donny (Jonni), of McCalla, and a daughter, Libby (Thomas), of Vestavia Hills, and the love of his life, grandchildren, Chris Nelms (Jolie), Adamsville, Stephen Nelms (Melissa), Tucsan AZ, Jonna, Donna, and Tish Barr, of McCalla and Max and Molli Register, of Vestavia Hills, and great grandchildren, Bren and Wyatt Nelms, of Tucsan AZ, a sister and brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Intermediate Care Unit and Palliative Care Units at UAB. Visitation will be at 1:00 Friday September 9 at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Services will be conducted by Brother Dwight Edwards at 2:00 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Lung Association.
