Don Herring

September 11, 1950 — March 29, 2016

Don Stephen Herring, of Hoover, went home to be with our Lord, Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the age of 65. Steve retired from the Birmingham Southern Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Deborah B. Herring; 3 sons, Scott Herring (Marilyn), Brandon Herring (Melissa), and Troy Piper; his daughter, Jennifer Lawes (John); and 9 grandchildren, CJ, Samantha, Brett, Max, and Macy Herring, Drake Lawes, Linus and Blaise Piper, and Emily Norris.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:30, Friday, April 1, 2016, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM in the chapel, Rev. Alan Head officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Callahan Eye Foundation or the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
