Don Lewis Bennett, 76, passed away September 2, 2024 following a 5 year battle against multiple myeloma cancer. Don was born August 16, 1948 in Auburn, AL and then moved to Clanton, AL where he lived his childhood and teen years. Don then relocated to West Virginia and attended his Senior year at Morgantown High School followed by West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Don then returned to Birmingham, AL where he married the love of his life Linda Taylor, raised two sons, and opened a family business - Marble, Granite, and Tile Imports in Vestavia, AL.
Upon his return to Birmingham, Don joined the Army Reserves and achieved the rank of Major, retiring after 26 years of military service. Don was also an Eagle Scout, and is fondly remembered for his love of Auburn football, BBQ, golf, coin collecting, jokes and sense of humor. Don was an active member of Riverchase United Method Church.
As an alternative to flowers, gifts in memory of Don to the American Cancer Society, Children's Hospital of Alabama, or Riverchase United Methodist Church would be meaningful and appreciated.
