Diane Smith

Diane “Memaw” Bearden Smith, of Birmingham, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the age of 77. She was retired from the Hoover Board of Education after 41 years of service. Mrs. Smith was an avid bird watcher and loved her flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Welton Smith. She is survived by 3 sons, Robert Keller (Pat), Dale Smith (Michelle) and Berry Smith (Evelin); a daughter, Linda Simmons (Jimmy “Bebo”); 7 grandchildren, Melissa Dill, Melanie Williams, Tina & Tommy Simmons, Shae & Drew Smith and Zac Ronk; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond C. Bearden (Joan); and 2 sisters, Louise Thrasher (Jerry) and Christina Roberts. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Tommy Glenn officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
