35 years old, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Brookwood Medical Center. Dextra grew up in Alabama, California, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State University, where he met and fell in love with his lovely wife. Dextra was currently pursing a Master's Degree. Dextra was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mrs. Annie Vincent and his grandfather, Mr. William Pierce. He leaves to mourn a devoted, loving and loyal wife of 13 years, Bridgette Robinson Groce of Hoover, AL; his father, Richard Groce of Birmingham; his mother, Janice Pierce Groce of North Shelby County; a brother, Corey (Lori) Groce of Alabaster; a sister, Natasha Groce of Birmingham; mother-in-law, Dorothy Elizabeth Robinson of Cedertown, GA; grandmothers, Lillie Groce of Lincoln, AL and Elizabeth Vincent Pierce of Vestavia Hills, AL; a special great aunt and uncle, William & Mattie Vincent of Anniston, AL; uncles, Elvis (Shirley) Groce of Irmo, SC and Timothy Green of Birmingham; aunts, Linda (Bobby) Pearson, Mary Nell Rock and Valeria Elston of Lincoln, AL, Eloise (Will) Washington of Birmingham and Lucy Orr of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-laws, Cheryl Denise Robinson and Dorothy Robinson Jester of Cedartown, GA; three nephews, two nieces; and several cousins, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2009, from 10:30-11:00 AM at the More Than Conquerors Faith Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, So. The family requests that instead of flowers, a donation be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetic Association or to charity of choice.
