Dewey “Dee” Murchison III, was born on May 21, 1962, in Birmingham, Alabama. On Sunday, August 12, 2018, Dee passed away peacefully in his sleep at his house in Helena. It’s probably an understatement to say he loved anything that had to do with Alabama football. He also loved to fish. But mostly, he loved his family, friends, coworkers and especially his son, Boomer. Some might say that Dee spoiled his four-legged friend, Scout. For example, when Dee went to McDonald’s for a biscuit, Scout got one too. Dee was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Nell (Gran) and Dewey Murchison, Jr.; and nephews, Michael Clough and Brandon Clough.
Dee is survived by his son, Boomer Murchison (Jacob); sisters, Debi Clough and Sandy Thompson; nephews, David Clough (Celeste), Casey Forsyth, and Jason Davidson; nieces, Resa Watson, Stacey Forsyth, and Jennifer Stalnaker; and many other cousins and extended family.
While Dee will be missed dearly by all who loved him, it brings some comfort to know that his heart is now healed, that he is together with Gran, who is no longer ill, and that the two of them are probably talking college football with Bear Bryant.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 5:30-7:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home at 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 7:00 PM. Please come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dee’s honor for his son’s college fund at: www.gofundme.com/boomer-murchisonfriends-of-dee.
