Dewey Sanders

Dewey Norman Sanders, 86, passed away October 1, 2013 in Jacksonville, FL. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dewey was born in Albertville, AL. A graduate of Auburn University, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After building a successful sales career with stops in Gadsden, AL and Asheville, NC, Dewey founded Fax and Financial Systems, Inc. in Birmingham where he served as President and CEO. He was a member of North Shelby Baptist Church before moving to Jacksonville in 2009. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and Iris Sanders, and sister Clara Bowling. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean Phillips Sanders, his two children Nancy Sanders McKinney (David) and Dewey Norman Sanders, Jr., brothers Fred Sanders (Barbara) and Leonard Sanders (Lynn); his four grand-children Allison Grill (Pat), Ashley Williams (Ben), Patrick Sanders and Daniel Sanders; and great-granddaughter Mattie Grace Williams. A memorial service will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover at 11:00 on Monday October 7. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 prior to the service.
