Delton Nix

Delton was born October 23d, 1938 in Montevallo, Alabama, to Elie Nix and Leatha (Sims) Nix. He was the fifth of six children. He married his lovely bride, JungSook (Han) Nix, on November 9th, 1962 in Seoul, Korea. From their union, Delton was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He devoted his life to loving, caring and tirelessly providing for his beloved wife and family. He dedicated 22yrs of faithful service to his Nation through his commitment in the U.S. Army that included two combat tours in Vietnam. Upon retirement in 1980, Delton transitioned to federal civil service for fourteen years, followed by a nine-year entrepreneurial tenure in Manhattan, New York. Delton and JungSook then moved to Hoover, Alabama where he served the local community as a school bus driver for Jefferson County Independent School District that led to his final retirement. In August of 2021, Delton and JungSook relocated to Rocklin, CA to live with their daughter Crystal Nix, and Son in law Jay Hester. Fourteen months later, Dad left his ailing body to be in peaceful presence of our gracious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elie Nix and Willie James Nix; and one sister, Lizzie Andrews.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 59years, JungSook Nix of Rocklin California; daughters, Jaqueline Pannel-Nix (OttisPannel) of Sydney Arkansas, and Crystal Nix (Jay Hester) of Rocklin California; his son, Delton Nix, Jr. (Kristine Nix) of Fort Hood Texas; and two brothers, Jesse Nix and Charles Nix of Bessemer Alabama; eight grandchildren, Crystal Creed (Jacob Creed) of Bossier City Louisiana, Saundra Pannel of Mobile Alabama, Nathaniel Pannel of Sidney Arkansas, Jeremy Nix (Melissa Nix) of Fort Rucker Alabama, Benjamin Nix of Waco Texas and Morgan Nixof Nashville Tennessee, Eli Hester of Rocklin California and Allie Hester of Rocklin California; three great grandchildren, Ryker, King, Elizah; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.

Pallbearers will be his son, grandsons and nephews. Memorials may be made to Currie Jefferson Funeral Home or to the charity of your choice.

Special thanks the doctors and staff at the Mather VA Hospitalfor the care and compassion rendered to Delton and family during this difficult time.

May God grant us the ability to try and live out our lot in life in honor of his example of humility, love, forbearance and selflessness.
