Delano Doyle Lucas, of Hoover, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the age of 80. Doyle was co-founder of Hoover Plumbing, LLC and founder of Lucas Excavating for more than 40 years. He served his country in the US Air Force in Germany.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Lester Lucas; 2 brothers, W.C. Lucas and Junior Lucas; and 2 sisters, Sybel Wilkerson and Clovis Deale.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gertrude Lucas; 2 sons, Michael Lucas and Ralph Lucas (Terri); 4 granddaughters, Jessica Fortner (Joey) and Sara Lucas, Summer Lucas, and Savannah Lucas; 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Jenna Fortner; 1 brother, Don Lucas (Joyce); and 3 sisters, Ila Butler, Betty Chambliss, and Kerry Foley.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, Friday, March 6, 2015, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Service will follow at 11 AM in the chapel, Rev. Raymond Bean officiating. Interment will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilton County.
