Daniel Gentry

of Hoover, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the age of 63. He worked with Alabama Power for over 30 years. Butch played collegiate and professional football, and mentored young players as a volunteer coach at Simmons Middle and Hoover High Schools. He was an active member of Shades Crest Baptist Church where he served in a variety of ministries. He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth Ann Gentry, and his parents, Daniel and Frances Gentry. He is survived by two daughters, Lynsey Carden (J.D.) and Blaire Gentry; a sister Lynn Watts (Lacey); and several other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2014, from 12 noon to 2 PM at Shades Crest Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM at the church with Dr. Brian Lee and Rev. Chuck Williamson officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
